Singapore washing!
12/07/2008
I travelling in singapore for around 1 month in September 2007.The hostel i stayed in 'The Betel Box' did all our washing for us.one morning i gave my clothes, towels, sleeping sack, pretty much everything i owned,to be washed. 2 days later i still hadn't had it back so asked what was hapening only to find out it had gone missing. they checked everywhere and then looked on the CC TV to see that their cleaner threw all my things away. i was really upset and had nothing left in my rucksack. i was also flying out to hong kong that day so didn't have time to try and replace anything. in the end the hostel gave me some money which was no where near what all my stuff cost. i ended up buying 2 hand towels for my boath stuff and spent the next 5 months wearing the only 2 t-shirts and 2 pairs of trousers i owned. i had 1 sarong that i made into lots of different outfits. all in all is was a disaster that i now look back on and laugh at as i managed just fine and it made everything more fun!! my rucksack was a lot lighter and i had more space for souverniers.
Deuter Made a difference BecauseDeuter made a differnce becuase it is the best quality rucksack i have ever used. my rucksack was chucked around everywhere i went and it still looks new!!! they're great!!
Talk to Bears
19/05/2009When I was in the Adirondack mountains in northern New York State. I helped lead a group of boys on a hike. One night two bears walked up to our Lean-to as they had smelt some food. I was terrified but our group leader said talk to them. I told them all about my new Deuter bag and about our day going up MT Marcy and how hard it was. The bears eventually got bored and wandered off! It was definatley a strange experience.
Deuter Made a difference Becausetheir bags are lightweight, accessable and great value for money.

I purchased my first Deuter in 1990, it soon became more than a rucksack, it became a companion and trusted friend. Not only did it serve as a hiking sack it also carried my shopping, my work gear, laptops and loads of kits on business trips in the educational business all over Europe. It never let me down and despite it's faithful reliability it only ever suffered a slight scuff on the hip belt. Then one day after more than 18 years on my back, it got stolen. I still feel bereft with out my old Deuter!
Deuter Made a difference BecauseIt was more loyal than my dog, more dependable than my ex partner, tougher than a ninja and more global than Michael Palin!
A Stroll to Choquequirao
22/02/2010
A friend and I had just completed a 5 day trek out to Machu Pichu via an alternative route, and felt there was a lot more to see in the area. It was after the trek we heard about Choquequirao, a partially uncovered ruin not too far from Machu Pichu (Choquequirao has been commonly dubbed as "the next Machu Pichu"). We decided to look into a little more, shopped around for information and tours. The tours were expensive and sounded very drawn out, ranging from 4-5 days, thus we cam eto the decision we would do it ourselves and hire a donkey and a local guide from the nearest town (Cachora). However on arrival in Cachora, we were informed the minimum hire of a donkey and a guide is 4 days, so my friend and I decided that with what we had, buying food and provisions, we would set off by ourselves and speak to villagers on the way for further advice. We set off late in the afternoon, walked for some time in the dark until we came to the first village, from there we made to the amazing ruins the next day around lunch, had an enjoyable 3 hours in peace and quiet (we were the only people there), then started to head back to town. on the completion of the trek, we returned to Cachora in under 48 hours from our departure without overly exerting ourselves, saved 2-3 days and $200 U.S in the process. The villagers and farmers we met on the way were very friendly and helpful, and on a couple of occassions were invited to lunch with them and their famalies. Overall a great decision to set off by ourselves.
Deuter Made a difference BecauseWe both had Dueter backpacks, as we were not expecting to carry our packs, as we thought that we would easily find a guide with donkey tent and cooking equipment, we were somewhat unprepared. With tents back in Cusco, we were forced to hire tents and cooking equipment. We did not have our larger backpacks, carrying only our 35L packs. The 35L dueter packs we had turned out to be the ideal packs for such a trek, they were the perfect size, had suitable fittings to tie the tent and cooking equipment too, my friend incorporated his camelpak into his bag. The light weight and strength of the packs were perfect for our requirements, as was the design which allowed ventilation between the pack and our backs, reducing the build up of moisture on our clothing, which was a god send at high and freezing temperatures.
Wow Factor...
03/09/2010Traveling been always an issue when choosing type of traveling bag. There are trolley type, backpack type and combination, after been travelling with trolley type, I decided to get the backpack type. Wow, its so convenient and easy, imagine you got to carry trolley bag when you climb up a 1000 stairs in Batu Cave, Malaysia. It awsome when a good back pack integrated into your body when carrying it while not having difficulties of weight during trekking and travelling.
Deuter Made a difference because .... :60 + 10 liter backpacks really feasible and action pack, not only the stuff that it can store but also the ease of backpacking it behind you. With all the compartment easy reach, you can get the stuff if you store it right where you want to be.
