My Best Sack To Date
07/02/2008I’m an average type of guy who lives within a 20 minute drive the office by my plush company car. I will admit I like my home comforts, who doesn’t? But now the years and the finer things in life have caught up with me and the waist line has grown out of proportion.
So approx a year ago I took the plunge and decided I can save wasted gym memberships that only seem to slim the bank balance and decided to cycle to the office. Doing the 10 mile each way trek on a daily basis I carry my change of clothes, cycle repair shop (ok the tools!!) the mobile office and the most important thing… My lunch!!
Now I have had my fair share of rucksack relationships in the past year. I have suffered breaking clips, zips, shoulder straps and lots of sticky backs!! I just kept and could not bring myself to pay out or justify the cost of a Deuter. Now most of you will agree with me that a bag is a bag?? Yeah?? Well, Wrong! And its been a costly lesson, this is a fine example of you get what you pay for, My Trans Alpine has not won awards for nothing. Deuter have made an excellent backpack, it fits comfortably, and my back is nowhere near as sticky due to the airstrips system. Bottom line is you can see exactly what you’re paying for it’s a well engineered and top quality sack.
Deuter Made a difference Because:- It makes carrying the necessary to work that much easier and in comfort like its part of you!!
Coast to Coast
06/05/2009The main group finished, the Tynemouth C2C sign was on a hill (who thinks these things up) at about 6.00pm. Apparently Iain tried a sneaky sprint finish only to be outwitted by the B-Boy who had spotted that he was in a shocking gear, it didn't matter anyway because he had taken an off road route the day before and missed about a mile of excruciating climb! 15 minutes later Darren Puncture Gregory and Rob Repair Kittler turned up. The Support had been waiting for a few hours, and had seen many others start and finish. The end was sweet, but slow in coming. The sun was still shining and the bikes took a little dip in the North Sea as way of proof that we had done it.
We can see why people take 3 or 4 days, it is an enjoyable ride, but out of the 140 miles the middle 134 are very hilly - 2 days was optimistic but somehow probably makes us feel a little prouder about doing it so quickly, they were long days and they did hurt a bit, but it's done now! A big well done goes to Clare who did it on shopping bike not clipped in, Emily - who did it without being clipped in, Andy P who did it on the wrong tyres and Darren, who waited for the last 20 minutes to have a years worth of punctures and no tyre levers.
I won't bore you any longer, please get on your bikes while the sun is shining.
A big thank you goes to the Support Team/Cake 2 Cake/Simon and the Witches - we couldn't have got there, got fed and got back without you.
If you sponsored us, then thank you so much, we know what it is like with people with begging bowls out all of the time, but hopefully we can make you feel a bit more part of it with the emails and if you speak to any of us. If you fancy doing it we have a couple of maps going - used only once!
